How to copy and paste format only in 3.5

I can't see any way to copy and paste only the format of a cell in Numbers 3.5. In Excel, there is a paintbrush tool to do that. How is it done in Numbers?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), 3.4 GHz, Fusion drive

Have you tried selecting the cell(s) you want to get the formatting from, then using the menu items "Format > Copy Style" and "Format > Paste Style"?

the key equivalents are:

Copy Style: <option> + <command> + c

Paste Style: <option> + <command> + v

Right! I was looking under the edit menu where the other copy and paste options are. Didn't see it under format and searching the help for "copy format" doesn't bring any answer up. Good thing we have this forum! Thank you.

Exactly. "Style" instead of "format". In Excel it's referred to as the format painter tool. Would be nice if Apple used format as a key word so that when searching for it, it would turn up style.
