How do I lock video in iMovie?

I'm trying to edit in iMovie 10.0.6 and am trying to edit the video to match with the audio and add other clips in between. Every time I delete a portion on the video it snaps where there should be a gap in video together messing up the sync with the audio. How do I lock the video in place so that when I delete a portion of it, it stays put? Thanks!

Hi

This function has never been avalably in any iMovie version since v.1. One has to use a more professional tool as FinalCut (any version) or Adobe Premiere to do this.

YES it's been an asked for function since v.1 - I have them all (till version iMovie'11 v.9.0.?) - not iMovie'13 v. 10.0.x..

The work around is to put in black Photos set to match the duration perfectly and replace during Movie building. Only working way I know of and it's tedious. I love FinalCut pref pro v.6.0.6 - but the more reacent ones can also do this with perfect logic.
