Problem with Apple Mail with blueyonder.co.uk address

I have not seen this as a specific topic in the forum. It concerns problems with Apple Mail on iMacs, after Yosemite up-date, if you have a Virgin Media blueyonder.co.uk mail address. (Mail ok on iPhone and iPad all the while.) I have spent many hours on the phone with Apple Help team and with the Virgin team trying to solve the fact that the incoming server and/or the out going server keeps loosing contact. Passwords and settings have been re-set and all things possible have been fiddled with by the technical guys. Everyone very helpful but the final conclusion is that there is a problem!

I have friends with iMacs and blueyonder addresses that have been through the same time consuming frustration with the same conclusion. It is difficult to know if it is Apple at fault for launching Yosemite with faults or Virgin for not making the necessary adjustments to their systems.

A future up-date to the Yosemite operating system is promised which will/might solve this. In the mean time I have been advised to load "Thunderbird" from Mozilla and I am now receiving and sending mail with this programme. Unfortunately, to my mind, this is a very "second best" programme and I am waiting a resolution so I can return to Apple Mail.

I have always previously had confidence in Apple and therefore always up-date all my equipment as soon as possible to the latest system up-dates. This has dented my confidence as it looks as if Apple are "doing a Microsoft" and launching a product onto the market and their existing customers, which has a trail of problems of compatibility with other products.

This message is posted to save anyone out there with similar problems from wasting time trying to solve this at the moment and to ask Apple/Virgin to get on with sorting out the situation and to let me know when they have. My question therefore is when?

I too have a massive blueyonder email problem after Yosemite up-date and had hoped that after the most recent OS X YOSEMITE 10. 10.2 update that I installed on Feb 9th 2015 that the matter may have been resolved, however, this is not the case. In order to receive mail I still have to delete my account and reload it and even then I am not always able to sent mail. I do not have this issue with my iPhone or iPad so I am struggling as to why this is happening on my iMac?
