What are you trying to clean up? Macs aren't like pc's that need constant maintenance and if you start installing third party utilities you will eventually brick your mac.
There's this How to clean Apple products - Apple Support
Just wanting to speed it up, it takes so much longer for everything to load then it did and was wondering if there was something I needed to do.
There could be some incompatible or poorly written software installed, get and run EtreCheck http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck and post its result here so we can get a look at your system.

Well the wworst thing I see is that you've got the Genio malware installed, but I'm not sure that would slow you down. AdwareMedic http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php will find and remove it for you, or you can do it manually Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac - Apple Support
Remove Genio and see if things improve. If not post back with exactly what you're noticing is slow.
Thanks for your help Mike. I've already removed Genio. Is it because of the Yosemite OS that it takes a while for my Mac to boot up?
I don't know if I noticed longer boot times whenI upgraded to Yosemite, but I RARELY reboot my mac, I just put it to sleep and almost never restart it. I did shut it down tonight because I'm getting ready to install an SSD in the optical bay, so I'll pay attention to how long it takes to start tomorrow.
You might want to boot into your Recovery partition (Command-R) and run Disk Utility to repair your boot drive, there might be some repairs that DU can handle.
