Q: bootcamp error: the windows support software could not be saved
"the windows support software could not be saved to the selected folder. an error occurred while saving the windows support software."
when it says its downloading the windows support software, the progress bar does move but very slowly, but for some reason this error comes up when reaching around 60-70%.

I've used this usb before to do the same thing a few months back and it worked perfectly, also using the same iso. i went to apple's site and downloaded the bootcamp support software including the windows support software, and I'm not sure what i need to do now. how do i create a windows 7 installation disc without bootcamp? the second option in bootcamp (download the latest windows support software from apple) is ticked and greyed out. (and i have tried googling, maybe I'm not typing in the right thing?)

1. BCA saves the software in /Library/Application\ Support/Bootcamp in a file called WindowsSupport.dmg. Network errors are usually the problem. The other problem is connectivity to Apple servers.
2. You can download the .zip directly from Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640 and use the ISO and a tool like Rufus to build a bootable USB to use.
