Anybody else is getting fake Apple Support emails from support@webmaster.com?

Recently I'm getting a lot of spam from this wisecrack who sends emails in the name of Apple with the Apple logo and all and then asks for my information saying that I need to update my Apple Account. You click on the image and it takes you to a weird website.

Tell all your friends and be careful, Apple will never ask you for passwords, etc.

Peace

Yes, fake. Ignore and delete.

If anyone responds to and fills in any questions asking for your Apple ID and password, change them immediately. If you entered credit card information, call your credit card service center number and cancel the card immediately.

There are tons of these things being sent every day. The tip off for every one is if you hover over the links, they do not go to any web address that has anything to do with Apple. Besides the fact that Apple will never, ever send out such an email.

It happens to all walks of life. New computer users in particular are vulnerable simply because they haven't learned enough about the web and all that happens there.

The old "Nigerian scam" has pretty much disappeared, but sites that monitor victims who actually believe they can get 15 million for 5 thousand counted high level executives and other normally very intelligent people among the ranks. Greed comes before common sense sometimes.

Kurt: It appears you read those scams from Nigeria far better than I do. I usually hit the delete key before I am able to finish reading the first line so I missed all of the gory details. I guess that comes from being on the web since the late eighties.

It is surprising how few people have of the expression that if the deal sounds too good it probably isn't.

I haven't seen one of those for a long time now. I had heard about them various ways before one actually appeared in my email box. It was worth reading all the way through once just to see it. Amazing that anyone falls for this stuff.

I like what one person said to the person they got on the phone number you were supposed to call. "Take the 5,000 out of the cash pile to pay the release fee and send me the rest." The scammer hung up. The nerve! 😀
