My iPhone 5c won't charge. Not your average story.

So I.ve had no issuse with my iPhone until recent about a year after purchase. It randomly just started depleting battery very quickly(3-4hrs per 8hr charge). Now it wont even turn on when charged it shows the battery sign and lightning bolt and a blinking charger head. So I recognize that this is an issue so I go to my carrier store, they use their chargers and it works puts some juice back on my phone, so I buy one of their chargers its not a apple so I didnt have high hopes. The charger I buy doesnt work so I cave and go to the only apple store in my area and its like an hour away. I go there they use their chargers and it warms up fine no issue, they run a diagnositic im all good. So i buy one of their cords and all should butwhen I go home it still doesnt charge.

So my question is why would a phone charge other places with iPhone chargers but when I charge it with and apple charger it wont work?(keep in mind they ran a diagnostic and it says everything is Ok) Ive cleaned the ports out fine too.

Did you say that you also replace the charging cable too?

If you have a new genuine cable & Apple charger I would start to consider that the device itself is at fault.

Are you able to get it to charge up to 100%?

From a full charge I would quit all apps in the task switcher, reboot, disable location services, bluetooth, mobile data, only use wifi & cellular for calls/ SMS. See how long it lasts (note if you make any long calls). Running games for extended periods also can drain the battery very quickly, so avoid that too.

If performance is noticeably better I'd start looking at what apps are actively using data or location services. If they are constantly polling for an accurate fix it can drain the battery quickly.

You may find that it is easier to backup the device in iTunes, factory reset it (removing all apps & data), run the battery drain test for a day or so.

Then restore the iTunes backup. Once again if the performance plummets you can assume there are third party apps that are eating up power. If it never has good power then either take it to an Apple store or look at other stores that can replace the battery for you.

You can also look at the battery usage in Settings > General > Usage > Battery usage. See if that give you any indication of the main power hogs.
