Q: Error 3014 while restoring in DFU mode

Hello,

 

I have apple iPhone 5. I tried a lot to restore  my phone but still facing problems. First my phone was displaying error 3194 and now trying to restore but when firmware label in iTunes displays then it stuck and throwing Error 3014. I have downloaded following packages in my computer:and tried all by holding shift key when clicking "restore" button of iTunes but no luck

I tried to apply all advises listed on different threads of apple community e.g.

1) Disabled antivirus and firewall

2) Uninstalled and re-installed iTunes to the most latest version

3) Freed up more space on my computer

4) Cleaned the hosts file

5) Tried both DFU and recovery mode

 

Please advise what should I do.

    You are trying to download and install the wrong iOS. While I see a listing for the iOS 8.1.2, you have also tried others. The only one being signed right now
    is iOS 8.1.2, that is the only one you can install.

    Hello,

     

    Thanks for your reply. I tried two times to install iPhone5,1_8.1.2_12B440_Restore.ipsw. Is that correct version to upgrade my phone? If yes then unable to restore with this ipsw package and my phone is dead

    Stop trying to use downloaded ipsw. Just connect the device to iTunes and select restore. I would also review the support document as you may have altered your computer and make it difficult to restore your device. Have you jailbroken device, or was that computer used to jailbreak a phone?

    What do you mean, that you did this on the computer? There is information in the support document that I linked for you regarding the hosts file. Have you tried the regular restore as I suggested?

    The hosts file means nothing to me. Again, the link I provided you gives you all the instructions to follow. If you cannot get anything done there, then you need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar at Apple to have them check the device.

    The link you provided I applied all the measures with no luck. Unfortunately I am residing in Iran where I don't think you have Apple Genuis bar to go and fix my device

    I am not aware of anything else that you can do, unless to try another computer. Multiple attempts to download and install the incorrect software has resulted in your problem. If DFU mode will not correct it, then I know of nothing. Your attempts have ruined your device.
