Q: DVD Player problem

For a few months now, I have not been able to play any disk on my MacBook Pro. Every disk I put it, DVD or not, was rejected within 15 seconds. I even used an INSIGNIA Laser Lens Cleaner NS-HCL303 and it isn't working. Any ideas?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

    Hi

     

    Sounds like a trip to Apple Store/Service.

     

    What I would do is connecting an external DVD-burner and see if this runns OK - then a faulthy DVD-player is a high "odds" guess.

     

    I would also use an external Hard Disk with a fresh Mac OS and start from this - then insert an Audio CD or Movie DVD and test if they now play. If they do the faulth is not the DVD-player but in Mac OS/Application.
