Q: iPhone5 Photos Sync Issue

I seem to be having a problem with syncing parts of my iPhoto library to my iPhone5. No matter what I check, uncheck, recheck, the same result occurs. There are nearly 17GB of photos and/or videos on my phone. I've changed the number of events, unchecked videos, unchecked photos completely. No matter what I do I'm stuck with a huge chunk of space taken up on my 32GB iPhone5. I've tried a restore and this didn't help. Any ideas to free up space on my iPhone?

    Hey there Ronnie,

It sounds like you have resynced and even gone as far as restoring your iPhone but the photos do not seem to be syncing correctly despite that troubleshooting. It seems to me like your iPod Photo Cache file may need to be deleted and then recreated. This section of the following article will help you do that:

iTunes: Understanding the iPod Photo Cache folder

    iPhoto or Aperture

If you're syncing from an iPhoto or Aperture library, use these steps to find the iPod Photo Cache folder in the default iPhoto Library or Aperture Library location:

    1. From the Finder, choose Go > Home. If you moved your iPhoto Library or Aperture Library to a different location, go to that location instead.
    2. Open the Pictures folder and locate the iPhoto Library file. (For Aperture, this is called Aperture Library.)
    3. Control-click iPhoto Library or Aperture Library and choose Show Package Contents.
    4. In the next window, drag the iPod Photo Cache folder to the Trash.
Important: Don't remove or modify any other file within the library package. Removing or modifying other files may cause data loss.
    5. Close the Finder window.

    All the best,

I'm not so sure that my issue will be addressed by this. I've since use iExplorer to view my iPhone. I've discovered that the photos and videos are in the DCIM folder on the phone. Not normally visible, they are indeed there. That app doesn't allow me to delete the files still. Any thoughts?
