Q: Since update airplay doesn't work properly

Hello everyone.

I have an Apple Tv model A1427 or 3rd generation. It is connect to a network managed by an Apple Airport Extreme, the new model. Since I updated the apple tv, I started having problems with airplay using my iPhone 5S and my Macbook Pro. Both of them, usually can't wake up the apple tv to play stuff. The macbook says that couldn't find the apple tv on the network, and the iphone doesn't say anything as an explanation of why it doesn't work. I have already restarted the apple tv to factory settings, obviously I can do it again, but I want other options to solve this.

It's worth to say that none of this happen if I turn on the apple tv with the remote. I that situation all the devices detect the apple tv and I can play stuff. But happens another thing, sometimes the apple tv shuts down by itself and I have to wake it up again. That didn't happen before updating.

I hope someone could help, thanks!

If I wasn't clear enough, please let me know.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

    1. Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    2. Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    3. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    4. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    5. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    6. Restart your mobile device.

    hello.

First of all, thank you for your complete answer.

    I couldn't solve it.

I already reset apple tv, both ways: from soft and removing all the cables. I also reset it to factory settings. I did the same with my Airport Extreme. I also made a new network, because I had one with hidden ssid, which I erased I made a new one, with password obviously but with a broadcasted ssid. I reset my phone and nothing.

I can't wake up my apple tv through airplay, I mean I can play music from my iphone or macbook if the apple tv is turned off. And I didn't check it counting the time, but I think that no matter if you are playing music or not, after some time turn off itself. This has become annoying at this point, and all began when I updated my devices.

    Any other ideas?

Should I tried to select a channel for my 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks, instead of leaving them in auto?

Also the apple tv is the only device I have with problem, the rest works perfectly or at least as usual.

    Thanks!
