Yahoo messages with iMessage

Why can I not receive messages from others using Yahoo on my iMessage? I send, they can receive, but I cannot get replies.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Can you be clearer please ?

Is this Yahoo IDs as Apple IDs used in the iMessages account or Yahoo IDs set up in the Yahoo Buddy list as you have added a Yahoo Account to the Messages app ?

That is to say the app is called Messages and people use Yahoo IDs as Apple ID which can then be used in the iMessages account.

It - the Messages app - can also be set up with a Yahoo Buddy List/Account.

As a consequence this "... using Yahoo on my iMessage ?" is not exactly clear.

It is late where I am and it will be a while before I pick up on any replies.

This,

I cannot receive their messages on iMessage.

The App Is called Messages. You will not get back or even be able to Send Yahoo IMs via this account (The iMessages one).

However as you go on from there it is clear you have an Yahoo Account in the Messages app and you are sending from there.

Are you using a Third Party App that helps monitor where apps connect to such as Little Snitch or similar.

For Items and apps not allowed to make connections a pop up normally appears asking you to allow connection to an IP and the port it is happening on ?

I ask, as Little Snitch needs you to allow the Yahoo Connection separately for the Messages App.

IMAgent handles most of Messages account connections, one is to Apple itself.

The Highlighted one in the Pic is to Yahoo.

Hi Ralph. See if I can give more info:

On the iMessage , when someone sends me a regular text (phone text), and I am on my desktop, it comes through just as it does on my iPhone. I can respond, receive their messages back, no problem. But friends I like to communicate with via Yahoo chat, ones who hate to text via phone, I cannot receive their messages on iMessage. I send them messages, they get them, but when they reply to me, nada. Now, if I go on my iPad and use yahoo chat app, it all works fine. Very frustrating. If I send a message to someone on my Yahoo list it sometimes comes through on the Yahoo as app as a message from me (as my Yahoo nick) to me (as my Yahoo nick). It was fine up until about a week ago. I have messed with settings and all, just no luck. So now if I am at my desktop, I have to keep my iPad next to me in case I wish to chat with friends on Yahoo. Hope this clears it up!
