iPod touch 5 won't stay connected to wifi?

i have had my iPod 5 sense about sometime in 2013. It has worked fine with my wifi, no problem till now. I went to school and brought my iPod with me and when I came back home my iPod didnt unammatically connect. Somehow it had erased the password so I reentered it in and it eventually reconnected. The problme is, the wifi won't work on my iPod in less than a foot away. The only way it will work is if I standing right beside the router it shows I'm connected it just won't load anything unless I'm right there.. This has never been a problem before and I don't understand it. The rest of my families stuff still works so I know it's not the routers problem. I don't know what else to try, I've tried everything, I've restarted my iPod, restarted the router, disconnected from the wifi and I've even reset all the network settings. Nothing is working can someone please help?! I need to know what to do! Thank you for any suggestions. Help!!!

iPod touch, iOS 8.1.2
