Not sure what else to check, in regard to troubleshooting.
If camera isn't recognized in system profile for hardware
there may be a need to consider scheduling appointment
with some Authorized Apple service provider for testing.

I followed the instructions for my macbook (pressing control, option, command and power at the same time) and when i turned it back on, everything was working normally with my camera! the light had been on since i did a security update the other day and trying to use photobooth/skype i realized the camera wouldn't work.
now it will!
