Q: iOS 8.1.2 really - Auto Brightness

I compare my iPhone 6 Plus & my friend iPhone 6 Plus after updated to the latest iOS 8.1.2..
There's some difference as in I don't have the "auto-brightness" but my friend has..
How do I fix the problem ?

    Can you see the difference between both me & my friend iPhone 6 Plus after updated to iOS 8.1.2 ?

    Mine is the one without the Auto Brightness menu that's why I'm F**king ****** off that I have to adjust the brightness all the time instead of auto..

    I've tired reformat my phone & re-download the iOS & update it again but nothing has change ! ! !

    Is the light sensor covered by a case or dirty on your iPhone?

     

    If this is OK, given the troubleshooting that you have already done, there might be a hardware problem with your iPhone. Visit an Apple Store for evaluation or contact Apple Support: Contact Us

    There's nothing wrong with my light sensor..

    After updating to iOS 8.1.2 then I don't even have the “auto-brightness” menu..

    I don't want refrubbish iPhone..

    How do you know that there is nothing wrong with your light sensor? Your iPhone shows signs that it isn't working since the light sensor is what controls Auto-Brightness. No working sensor = no Auto-brightness.

     

    Presumably your friend has the same phone and is also running iOS 8.1.2. Given that there is clearly something wrong with your iPhone.

     

    At this stage in its life if you get your iPhone replaced it is unlikely that you would get a refurbished iPhone 6.

    If my light sensor isn't working then when I'm on the phone then the screen won't go off when I cover the light sensor..

    The problem now is that AFTER I update to iOS 8.1.2 then I don't have the “auto-brightness” menu you get what I mean ?

    The screen is turned Off when you are on the phone by the Proximity Sensor which is not the same as the Light Sensor.

     

    Your problem with the light sensor isn't due to iOS 8.1.2. Your current problem may be just coincidental. I've seen no other reports of any Auto-Brightness problem in iOS 8.1.2.

     

    Try restoring your iPhone to Factory using iTunes on your Computer to rule out corrupted iOS software.

    How do I restore to factory setting ?

    Before update to iOS 8.1.2 my phone works perfectly fine but after updating to iOS 8.1.2 then i don't have the “auto-brightness” menu..

    So it's the software problem..

    The conclusion that it is a software problem doesn't necessarily follow. Since no one else is having your problem you either have a hardware problem or iOS 8.1.2 did not install properly on your iPhone.

     

    To reload iOS connect your iphone to iTunes on your computer and select, "Restore to Factory".

    I installed my iOS 8.1.2 using my Mac & I just leave it there to update without touching my Mac..

     

    Before I restore to factory setting I'll backup my data & give it a try..

    I hope it works..

    Same here after updating my iphone 5 ios 8.1.2 the auto-brightness toolbar disappear...

    I'm still worried because it might be my hardware..

    I don't think it's my hardware problem because my light sensor is working fine before I update to 8.1.2..

    I guess we have to wait for the next update & hope it's working fine by then..
