The 2gB figure refers to RAM requirements. The 200gB Figure refers to hard drive space. Which model Mac do you have?
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac8,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Boot ROM Version: IM81.00C1.B00
SMC Version (system): 1.29f1
I'm assuming I dont have enough ram?
Yes, you definitely need more RAM. You Mac has RAM specs a s shown below.
| Maximum Memory | 6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple) |
|---|---|
| Memory Slots | 2 - 200-pin PC2-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM |
Available at: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/iMac/Intel_Core_2_Duo_PC2-6400
so I have the option to add more RAM upto 6gb? and i could purchase 4gb from the link? is this easily fitted yourself?
Thanks for all your help!!
It is actually quite easy to install RAM. Check the videos at the link below for instructions.
thats so easy! only problem is finding the suitable RAM in the UK at a reasonable price, buying from that link will cost me too much from international shipping and import fees 😟
thanks again
