Q: on my iPad Safari has been frozen due to an iOS crash report

I don't know where else to go on this. For two days the Safari on my iPad has been frozen, all other functions work okay. The following message appears on the screen. " Warning! iOS crash report. Due to a third-party application in your 'phone' iOS is crashed. Contact support for immediate fix. +1-800-523-2251 (Toll Free)

When I called that number I got a voice with a foreign accent stating that they will take steps to fix the problem. When I asked if there is a cost for the service, she said, $60 which can be charged to your credit card. This certainly seems like a scam. I tried resetting the iPad and did everything else I could think of. But I need Safari to search the Internet and do a lot of other important things. If they don't know already, I think someone at Apple headquarters should be aware of this frustrating problem. Thanks for any help.

    Hello Scotsman8888,

It appears that you are getting a popup in Safari on your iPad.  I recommend you first try and clear your history and website data.  If the issue persists then please remove all website data.

    Clear information from your device

To clear your history and cookies from Safari in iOS 8, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Clear History and tap Clear Cookies and Data.

To clear other stored information from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data.

Safari web settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

    Cheers,

    Alex H.

    Hi Alex H.

Thank you, thank you! Your suggestion completely solved my problem. Now Safari on my iPad is working perfectly. Since my three year Apple Support has run out and you can't extend it, it's great that there's an Apple Support Community to take its place. And it's free! It just takes a little time and effort to get involved. I just hope at some point I can help solve some other person's problem but until I learn a lot more about computer systems, I don't see that happening.

       Thanks again,
