Q: Messages sent to a dead phone

If i lost my iPhone and went a week without any phone turned on with my cell phone number (but did not deactivate the dead/lost cell phone), when I activate a new phone will I receive any text messages sent in the week without a phone?

    It depends

     

    If your old phone was active and online- it will have received them even though it was locked - if the phone was not online then yes the messages will have queued up and will be delivered to you

     

    If you are transferring your number to the new device you should of course start receiving the messages on your new phone

    I frequently go a week or longer with my iPhone turned off or in Airplane mode while I'm on a backpacking or mountaineering trip. When I turn off Airplane mode and reach a location where a cell signal is available my phone goes crazy receiving the backlog of text.
