Q: 'Waking up' problems with Yosemite.

Hello folks.

I have a MacBook Pro which is just under a year old running Yosemite.

I'm having an annoying little problem with waking it up...usually after it left overnight wit the lid shut and the power left plugged in.

When i open the lid in the mornings, the screen is that translucent grey with the progress bar counting up at the bottom (like after a totally run-down battery scenario), which sometimes takss 20 seconds to complete, only then to go to the password entry screen only to be unresponsive for up to another 20 or 30 seconds.

Is anyone else having this issue? I don't remember this happening when i bought the machine running Mavericks.

i have to add, that it never seems to go thru this if the power cord is disconnected.

If anyone has had the issue and fixed it, please let us know

All the best....

    Good afternoon realtrailertrash,

What you are describing sounds like your computer is waking from "Safe Sleep." It is normal behavior. See this article for reference -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Hi Brett.

    Thanks for the link.

My thoughts, after visiting the link you posted, is that it's doing it due to the second instance described - regarding the European Energy Standards regulation.

It's strange tho that Apple would have to implement the safe-sleep function to a laptop of which was already asleep due to the lid being shut...mind-boggling!

I did power-management reset on my machine also, just in case, as It automatically shut down on me earlier whist showing 80% battery remaining, so perhaps there was an extra gremlin at play? I doubt it tho.

Either way...it's not a life-ruiner....just boring to have to keep waiting for my MPB to come to life.

    Cheers again....
