If you do not have your installation disk then no worries. Try out some of the troubleshooting in the article below to troubleshoot the issue further. It has steps to boot into Safe Mode first and if it still does not boot up it will have you try to run fsck in single-user mode, which will be very similar to running Disk Utility to verify the hard drive of your computer. You also maybe able to boot up into OS X recovery to try to reinstall your operating system to resolve the boot up issue if no errors are found.
