Q: macbookpro A1226 (2007) stuck on apple logo or autoreboot no matter from what i boot

hi everybody, as the title says, no matter from what i boot (bootable cd installer, usb stick, etc) there is a point where either the machine restarts automatically or freezes while the spining circle under the apple logo, the following is a list of what i have tried with no luck:

1. tried every option boot keys i found from this link: Startup key combinations for Intel-based Macs - Apple Support

even trying to boot from the recovery partiton will end up with the screen frozen or system restart.

2. booted from a osx bootable installer dvd, but same results: hangs on the apple logo and when the loading progress bar is about 30%.(have waited for about half hour but still hangs).

3. conected the working harddrive from a working mac (model 2011) to the 2007 model in either usb mode using a usb to sata converter, and inserting the hdd itself to the mac          internal sata data cable, but same results as with the mac 2007 model system: autoreboot or freezes on the spining circle

also i tried to connect the 2007 model hdd via usb to sata conevrter to the 2007 mac model to discart an internal sata data cable damage, but same negative result were produced.

4. got another ram memories from other system (an HP laptop pc with same type of rams) but same results: autoreboot or freezes on the spining circle.

also tried conecting onle single ram module, swaping ram module to different ram "port", but still the same results.

5. completely disassemled the mac 2007 model, retired the logica board to check anomalities, but it seemed ok, no sign of burned chips, components, ect

then reaplied thermal compund to all 3 chips (using cooler masters thermal compund ), conected it only with necesary components to boot (ram, monitor, power button data cable, and some other necesary cables to boot) but still the same results.

however, i tried conecting the mac 2007 hdd to the mac 2011 model, and it worked normaly, mac osx loaded completely, the desktop, the icons, everything normaly, also the bootable osx installer dvd i tested on the 2007 mac, loaded normaly on the 2011 mac system as well.

so, it seem clear there is a problem with the 2007 mac system maybe related to a logical board chip corruption....maybe the efi firmware?

what you people think about this issue? any suggestions what can be causing this? next thing i would like to try is to update the efi firmware, buy unfortunately, from what i have researched, you need to do this from the osx OS, but as you know, its being imposible to boot an OS from this mac 2007 system, i have reasearched about a way to to this without an OS, but the guides i found point creating bootable media from other mac, but unfortunatelly a have no longer access to the other 2011 model mac since its owner is no longer here and where i live, very few people have mac, but plenty of windows pcs, however i have not been able to find a guide to make a bootable media from windows to try to upgrade the mac 2007 efi firmware, hope someone can help me with this. thank you.

I suggest an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.  They will not offer to repair it but they may be able to tell what the problem is that your are dealing with.

    Ciao.

thanks for your reply, unfortunatelly the genious bar page tells that  the 2007 mac system does not apply for free evaluation,

That must then be a new policy.  I'm disappointed to hear that.

Did you try to boot the 2007 MBP with the internal drive connected externally via USB?

If you cannot get the MBP to boot with the original installation disks, then there is an internal hardware problem.

    Ciao.

    hi,

yes, as i wrote in my 3rd point, i tried to connect the 2007 model hdd via usb to sata conevrter to the 2007 mac model to discart an internal sata data cable damage, but same negative result were produced.

everything i try to boot on the 2007 mac system, via usb, dvd or internal sata, ends with a frozen logo or the machine autoreboots in an infinite loop.

from what i read on the internet those 2007 macs came with lots of hardware issues from factory, nvidia chip issues, logical board issues, its dissapointing to know that even after all this, apple would not offer a free evaluation at least, when we expended lots of money on their products.

i have an update here, i downloaded and burned to a bootable cd  the rEFIt software, it loads and shows me the partitions it detects on the mac, when i try to load any of these, still the same: reboot or frozen circle logo occurs, however, i can acces the rEFIt command shell, but i do not know what to do with this, does anybody know if maybe i could be able to try to update the firmware with this rEFIt software?

i will research about this, but if somebody got info about this, would be helpfull.
