Q: How can frequent crashes due to GPU Panic on Macbook Pro be stopped?

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro laptop, 2.8 ghz i7 with geforce gt330m 512 nb graphics card that started crashing about 1 yr ago. I never was notify by Apple about this potential problem although I see many posts about it. I replaced memory and hard drive; there is no hardware damage or corrupt software I can identify. I tried unchecking the automatic graphics option in the battery system prefs but gpu panic crashes still happen.

I see from the posts that this defect is a common problem, that is can appear any time after purchase, and that it is clearly a hardware defect. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I was never notified by Apple about this potential defect and therefore had tno opportunity to unertake preventative action before the laptop went out of warranty.

What is the best way to stop the crashes?

Does the logic baord need to be replaced or is or something else the issue? Where is this type of work done?

Thank you for any help or advice.
