Can I install Mavericks on a Mac that came with Yosemite pre installed?

I just bought a brand new Mac with the following specs:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)

2.8 GHz Intel Core i7

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

It came with OS X Yosemite installed. Though I love all the new features, this new OS doesn't support some important Apps I need to install. Could I say, install Mavericks on a partition of my HDD? I've looked on several forums and haven't found any good answers. Some folks say it's tricky. Others say it can't be done. Could anyone help?
