i updating my iphone and now i cant read or send messages. i also can call or get incoming call. I have reset my phone to factory settings and it still isn't working. what do I do now????
You need to talk with your phone provider. You may need a new sim or there may be a problem with your account.
do iMessage and FaceTime work? if so, the problem comes from your SIM card or your carrier.
Did you also check for carrier updates?
well when I click onto my messages screen just freeze so I am unable to see the screen and no my facetime doesn't work
Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?
You will not lose data by resetting.
yes and I phoned up apple and they told me to restore my phone which I did and it still is not working

Which would rule out a software issue. I'm afraid your phone has to be checked by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Porvider:
And what did your carrier say when you contacted them?

You should do that... note that the very first response said to contact your carrier.
