I tend to regard it as a cross between snake-oil and a scam, but I'm no expert.
What are your views on it?

I posted this simultaneously in the Water Cooler where the 3 responses so far have, to my surprise, suggested it might be a good idea.
Like all commercial "anti-virus" products for the Mac, "Sophos" is worse than useless.

Sophos is one of the better anti-virus apps of this sort for the Mac. Unfortunately, that's not saying a lot, especially since its stability and performance have fallen off a bit recently. I no longer recommend it as I once did, but it's definitely not a scam.
At this time, for those who insist on running anti-virus software, I only recommend ClamXav.

For anyone looking at this thread and pondering whether to bother with AV software I suggest that thomas_r.'s suggestions are all you need to know and follow.
