Q: Apple TV to MacBook Pro Extend Desktop Problem

My Apple TV can mirror my MacBook Pro (2012) to my TV however I am having trouble using it as an extended display.

1. I went to System Preferences -> Display and there is no Arrangement tab.

2. I pressed Option -> Detect Displays and nothing happened.

So I'm confused. I can mirror but I can't extend. Am I missing something?
