Jan 14, 2015 11:13 AM in response to Narvel99by jason269,Hello, Narvel99.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like something may be wrong with your iTunes media folder permissions. I would recommend changing and repairing the permissions as outlined in the first article below. Read and write is the preferred permission. I have also included the default iTunes media folder location directly below.
About your iTunes library files
Your iTunes library files track the media you add to iTunes, how you've organized it, and other information such as playlists. By default, these two files are in your iTunes folder. Find your folder:
Mac: In the Finder, choose Go > Home > Music > iTunes.
OS X Yosemite: If you don’t have the permissions to open a file or folder

Jan 14, 2015 9:50 PM in response to jason269by Narvel99,Hi Jason, I have tried several times and ways to reset my permissions, but it keeps stopping at the same place every time and gives the same message that I don't have permission to access music files. It's only this one folder, the rest have been copied to the external drive without trouble.

Jan 15, 2015 9:09 PM in response to jason269by Narvel99,Hi Jason, I finally got the folder to copy by using one of the links you sent me, this one:
Apply permissions to all items in a folder or a disk
- Select a folder or a disk, then choose File > Get Info.
- Click the lock icon
to unlock it, then enter an administrator name and password. - Click the Action pop-up menu
, then choose “Apply to enclosed items.”
Thank you for your help,
Joe
