Q: Trash will not delete contents

How can I delete large 1.36 GB backup files from my Trash?

Better yet, how can I get Trash to delete all files in Trash?

Ti's taking up too much space and tremendously slows down my system.

Mac Pro, iOS 4.3.2

If you are referring to Time Machine snapshots, you may ignore them:

Or you can turn off Time Machine.

If these 'backups' are something else, pleas give more details.
