Q: Old Ipad refuses airplay though I can see Icon

I have an Ipad 1 and an Apple TV 3rd gen. Tried to airplay BR Sport. Could see the airplay icon but when i pressed it my only option was Ipad no Apple TV. What might be wrong?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you would like to AirPlay from your iPad to your Apple TV but the Apple TV is not showing as an option in the AirPlay menu. In this situation, I would suggest working through the troubleshooting steps in the attached article.
