Jan 13, 2015 1:13 PM in response to FVE-NLby léonie,Frans, are you using iOS 8 on your iPad, and you did the edits in the Photos.app? Then you cannot transfer the photos with edits from your iPad, if you connect the the iPad to a USB port, to import the photos.
See this link: iPhoto and Aperture don't have edits to photos you import from iOS 8 devices - Apple Support
To transfer the edited photos send them by Mail. But that would be a lot of clicking, since you cannot mail all photos at once.
The edits are stored in .AAE sidecar files, that the Mac not yet understands. The new Photos.app for the Mac will probably be able to transfer the edited files, once it has been released later this year. Waiting a few more months might solve this problem.

Jan 14, 2015 11:54 AM in response to léonieby FVE-NL,Hi Leonie,
thanks a lot for the explanation !!
This is actually very surprising to me. Making a trip, I import, select and edit pictures, as I have the time to do so. So, when I come back home, I expect importing to the Mac and reviewing only.
So, I think this is a missing gap between iOS 8 and OS X, which should be closed very soon.
Do you know of any other application which can be used on both, iOS and OS X, to edit photos??
Thanks a lot,
Frans

You are caught in the transit. If you still had iOS 7, that would have been no problem. Your edits in iPhoto on the iPad would have transferred to the Mac, and you would even have been able to undo the Camera filters. Unfortunately, iOS 8 is ahead of the photo applications on the Mac. The sidecar files with the edits transfer to the mac, but no software that I know of can read them. It will be better in a few month.

Right now, the only app I know is Pixelmator.
Pixelmator on the iPad can save and open files on iCloud Drive. But you would need to upgrade your Mac to Yosemite to use the new Pixelmator for Mac and to be able to access iCloud Drive from the Mac.

thanks again !!
So Pixelmator is the app for iPad and Mac.
At first glance it looks very interesting; I will look into this further.
Cheers,
