Q: How to stay logged in to Apple Communities?

Well, Bob, not the good news I'd hoped to send.   Freshly logged in, I raised this thread and then proceeded to put Mac to sleep.   Went away for an hour, came back, pressed the space bar to find I was still logged in  ...  but the moment I pressed the reply button I found myself logged out.

Any thoughts?  

Context menu is not available for Snow Leopard.

You were asleep.  No plugin is going to refresh a discussions.apple.com when the Mac is asleep.  Unless somehow the plugin was able to integrate with the OS X Power Nap features.  Otherwise, you do need to keep the Mac awake for any of these plugins to actually work.

rccharles, I've tried the new ReloadEvery, and it does appear to be working.  Thanks.  I am considering staying with the 'AutoRefresh' because it reactivates when I quit/restart Firefox.  I always seem to forget to re-enable ReloadEvery after I restart Firefox.

Great! Worked for me too.  I'm thinking about switching too.

BobHarris:  I'm setting up auto refresh.

What options did you pick?  What do you think they mean? The default was "Disable onbeforeunload".  "Refresh when active was off", but seems to be something you would want.

Apparently OnBeforeUnload is a Javascript event.

If I understand the above webpage, disabling this prevents a dialog box from popping up.

I'm not sure what "Refresh when active" means.  I am guessing that maybe it means if the web page in question has "Focus", then it will or will not refresh the page.  That is a wild guess.

All the URL's contain "filterID=" so I decided to use that as the common key.  It should actually work for any of the Discussions forums I want to follow and have a page open for.  600 seconds is 10 minutes.

The "specialdeals" URL is an Apple refurbished Mac mini page.  I keep thinking it might be time to upgrade my 2007 Mac mini, but I'm just not ready to pull the trigger yet, so I just look at the page.  7200 seconds is 2 hours.

If you're after a replacement Mac you might want to try the free Refurb.me alert service. I used it to obtain a Late 2012 Mac mini a year ago. You still purchase directly from Apple.
