just installed a new modem and router today. now time capsule just flashes amber. cannot see time capsule in airport utility -- no configured base stations found.

Whenever you add a new modem or router to the network, the Time Capsule will need to be reset back to factory default settings and then set up again to work on the "new" network.
With the Time Capsule powered on for a few minutes, hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule for 10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light status.
Insure that an Ethernet cable is connected from one of the LAN <--> ports on the router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule.
Click on the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen
Wait a few seconds for a listing of New AirPort Base Station to appear
Click on Time Capsule
The illustration below shows an AirPort Extreme. You will see Time Capsule on your screen.
The setup utility will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network and guide you through the installation. You can use the same name for the Time Capsule and password that you used before if you wish, or assign a new name and password.

Tap Settings on the home screen
Tap WiFi
Wait a few seconds for a listing of New AIrPort Base Station to appear
Tap on Time Capsule and the utility will open up automatically and guide you through

Bob, thank you. The reset solved the problem. I did not know that Time Capsule needed to e reset following a network upgrade.
The Time Capsule "remembers" the network settings from your old router, and it will look for the old router (and remain lost) until you clear out the old settings and them give the Time Capsule the new settings that it needs to connect to the "new" network.
