my default user can't access internet

when I tried to use the internet from my default user account, it refused to connect, but my secondary user has no issues. how do i fix my default account?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

These were written for Yosemite, but apply to 10.6 also.

Well, I was able to determine that the issue existed with the wireless network I was using not with my mac specifically. I tried reporting the service issues to the tech support team, but they were unable to help me right then. I am able to access the internet from any other wifi network, just not the one called 'xfinitywifi' that my neighbors have.
