Since upgrading to IOS8 my email text does not wrap

Since upgrading my mini iPad to iOS 8.1.2 when creating emails my recipient complains that the text is not wrapped. It appears ok as I write. I have looked at previous forum answers and have tried turning off S/MIME in advanced settings but this does not seem to make any difference. Any suggestions please?
