Q: iSight not working on Yosemite

I upgraded my macbook pro for Yosemite and my iSight is not working anymore. How can I fix it?

Does anybody knows where I can  find a Driver file?

Thx

That fact would lead me to believe that you have a conflict with some of the third party software you have added.

If uninstalling it  per the developers' instructions does not correct the problem, (don't merely trash it unless the developer so directs,) you may need to backup your disk, ease it, and reinstall only the Apple software.  If the camera works properly on the clean install, add back any necessary third-party apps.  Be sure to add only one at a time, testing thoroughly to be certain the camera continues to work before adding the next app so you can tell which one is the culprit.

Then use the final "Troubleshooting" suggestion: "... contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service."

    Thanks,

Using the VDCAssistant was the trick.

Our problem is a little different from most—System Profiler can "see" the iSight, but no function anywhere. We've done everything everyone suggested and finally took it to Apple Service—all their diagnostic tools point to a failed iSight—>$700 to replace the whole display on our MacBook Pro. This is just incomprehensible to me—how does an OS update kill the camera?!? Our iMac is 2 yr newer (2011), but this has scared me off any further SW updates (Mavericks has had its own issues!) Please post if anyone comes up with a solution!

Three solution alternatives I can offer:

    (1) Take the MBP to a local store and try before you buy a Mac compatible external webcam

    (2) Pay for the Apple fix

    (3) A new computer that meets your needs

This was the ONLY process that fixed my FaceTime HD Camera (built-in) on my Macbook Pro:

Power off your MacBook Pro (make sure your power source is plugged into your laptop!)

    Once your computer is shutdown:

hold down Shift+Control+Option (on the left side of your keypad) AND the power button.

Wait 5 seconds and then power up again.

That process resets the SMC on the MacBook Pro Retina

    That's it. Cheers.

Wissbaum's Third option worked for me with El Capitan upgrade on a MacBook Pro:

    Goes something like this:

Shut down computer and unplug power cord for 15 secs.

Plug in and turn on - then shut down again.

Turn, but before the gray screen appears simultaneously hold down the Option, Command, P, and R keys (all at the same time - it's tricky!).  When you hear the 'turn on' sound, release and let the computer reboot.  It took quite a while - went through several start up screens - but voila!!  The camera works!!

    G~

Had the same problem all the time (I think it is because of Skype)... anyway... this one works like a charm every time. No need to restart...
