iPhone 6 iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image

This message appears when I try to import my photos from my iPhone 6:

iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image

I am running OS X 10.9.5 on my iMac

I am running iOS 8.1.2 on my iPhone 6

I uploaded photos a few days ago with no issues.

Fixes I have tried:

Restarted my computer

Restarted my phone

Importing photos into a new iPhoto library

Importing photos into a different user account

Plugging my Apple cable into a different USB slot

Unplugged and re-plugged the cable into both the phone end and the usb end
Made sure my phone's iOS was up to date

None of the above affected the problem. The first 8 photos downloaded before this message appeared. Help! Feeling frustrated 😟
