flip-4-mac watermark threat

While exporting a FCE-HD project to quicktime movie, out of the blue, an alert box covered the progress box. Message was that Flip-4-Mac was applying a watermark and to remove it they wanted me to agree to a $30 downloaded pro version. It has been at least a year since I looked at a wmv, let alone used one.

The project exporting was shot with a Nikon, with sounds from Apple loops. What's up?

I'd consider getting rid of F4M if you think you don't need it. If the project stops playing correctly after uninstalling it you know the media is relying on it

somewhere. You can always reinstall it. I'd be tempted to remove the wmv files from the media folder too.

I think .mov can also contain wmv as a codec, you may want to check the actual encoding settings, you could still be using wmv inside a mov 🙂
