Thank you for your comeback. I am trying to use 10.0.3.

I was wondering where it said 'LAYOUT DEFAULT ECHO GB' if it was just to that project I was working on.

Have not gone past that one to another yet.

Moving on:

When I selected as you suggested I got this.

If i select Restore does this overwrite what is there, or double the Sound Library and use more HD space?

I also get a message that there is a whole bunch new sounds that are available but before I do that I would like to correct this little issue.

Again, I thank you Léonie, you always seem to give good advise.

Is this profile signature "GarageBand '11" still valid, or are you using GarageBand 10?

If you are using GarageBand 10, try the command "GarageBand > Restore Sound Library". The new GarageBand comes with a basic set of sounds and needs additional downloads, if you want to open older projects.

I see, you have still both options - "Update Sound Library" and "Restore Sound Library". That means, that you did not install any of the additional sounds that come with GarageBand 10.

In that case using "Update Sound Library" will probably add the missing layout. When I look at my own system library I am seeing the "layouts" installed the part of the library that is also used by Logic Pro X, and that are shared patches in the additional content of GarageBand 10.

If i select Restore does this overwrite what is there, or double the Sound Library and use more HD space?

"Restore" will not double files that are already there, but download missing items, and this way you will need more HD space. But I'd try first "Update", because the initial installation only installs a very basic set of instruments and loops. The additional contents will be several GB.
