Q: Business Practice using Apple Device

Hi,

I run a business with several apple devices and am investigating the prospect of potentially going for 35+ devices in the next few months.

What keeps holding me back is device activation...

Is there a preferred set up method for businesses using Apple equipment, and if so, can someone point me in the right direction.

I have just had to bin my third iPhone due to activation lock because in our game (transport) amicable partings are few and far between...

Any help - Thanks in Advance...

Set all of the devices to be supervised by Apple Configurator; you’ll then be able to control the lock. Click here for more information.

Interesting - So even if I run virtual Windows Machines on my Server cluster (I have over 45 WIN 2012 R2 server licences at my disposal plus over 100 cores and 100GB+ memory of spare power), I still need to go and buy a crappy mac mini to manage iDevices...

Thanks - That response was quite helpful - It sort of confirmed what I had already learnt.

I'm looking at the third party MDM and quite frankly, I'm beginning to think I need change the solution I originally scoped out...

I know Exchange has features to wipe and clean phones etc however I am walking into these shoe from somebody else and I can't see why Apple would do something so stupid for businesses (especially when they don't really offer a true server platform anymore)...

And Exchange will only wipe if the account is the exchange account created is used for the Apple ID (not explained to us from our telco provider who provided the original 10 iPhone handsets!)...

Half these iPhones I have sitting in front of me were never identified when they were handed out by the last IT Tech...!!!

You can have Apple reset the activation lock.  Find your receipt.

    Undoing the Activation lock

See Texas Mac Man post in

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6528124

In the interim, set the activation lock before giving it out to an employee. There can only be one activation lock.  You can log this apple id out from the ipad.  You can have one, two, or three apple id on the ipad. ( you'll need to verify this. )

You should enroll your devices in DEP,  Device Enrollment Program.   DEP gives your company the ownership over the device.  The user will not be able to set the activation lock. You will need to pick an MDM, Moble Device Management.  Does Exchange provide MDM service for the iPad?

MDM  -- Mobile Device Management.   Meraki is free

    MDMs

Airwatch, Meraki, MobileIron, Profile Manager on OS X Server, or Zenprise
