Q: Best Place to Store Large Folder of Uninstalled Fonts - 255MB

I recently purchased a large Macware font collection (6,200+) as part of app bundle. I've looked at this reference page regarding fonts:

Mac OS X: Font locations and their purposes - Apple Support

I am curious where would be the best place to store the large font folder that's 255MB in size. I don't want to actually install any fonts at this time, but want to make them available to FontBoss or FontBook for viewing. My main use of these fonts would be to use them in programs such as Adobe Illustrator and similar graphics programs.

I haven't decided is I will use FontBoss or FontBook, but wanted to know if there was any advantage in storing them in a specific location at this time.

Anywhere you want other than directly in any of the various Fonts folders. You can then activate the ones you want with your font manager.

The included FontBoss is about as barebones of a font manager you can get. It turns fonts on or off. Pretty much nothing else. If using Font Book, create each new font set as a Library set rather than the original type of set. A Library set allows you to manage the fonts without having the fonts automatically copied to the user account Fonts folder. Instead, they are activated from where they reside on the drive (in place).
