Q: No "AirPlay" in Apple TV 3rd Generation menu

I have an Apple TV 3rd Generation (Model A1469) and I am trying to set a password for my airplay so that I don't have random people in my vicinity connecting to my TV. I know that there should be a setting available if you go to Settings>AirPlay, but I don't have that option in my menu! I have already checked for software updates and I have restarted the Apple TV as well and the option is still missing. Any suggestions?

You are correct, it was simply not an option.

I did find the answer though: I had parental controls on, and that included locking the ability to change the AirPlay options, so it took it off the menu. After turning off Parental Controls, I saw the menu option again and could make changes. Who knew?

Hi DBTechnology,

To make sure we are on the same page, when you go on your Apple TV and go to Settings > AirPlay > Security you are not seeing an option for a password or onscreen code. If you are not, then you may need to restore your Apple TV. Take a look at the articles below for more information on how to set up the password or onscreen code as well as restoring your Apple TV.
