Q: Why is the "assign to specific desktop" option now missing?

I'm running Maverick on a brand new rMBP, and suddenly I can't assign an app to a specific desktop anymore!

The option used to be there in the dock, but now it's just gone... for all apps.

I have a second display connected, and working perfectly, just like I always do.

Why is that? How can I fix it?

Thank you!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), null

When you click on an application in the Dock, you don't get Options? What do you see?

In the option menu, there's "Keep in dock", "open at login", and "show in finder"... It's Lion all over again

    Here is a screen shot...

Try doing a Dock restart using the following Terminal command:

    killall Dock

Log out/in and test. If that doesnt work, you need to look in your user Library/Applications Support/Dock for the .db. Use the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Applications Support/Dock.  Move the .db to your desktop.

    Then try a dock reset.

    Applications/Utilities/Terminal enter the command

    killall Dock

Log out/in test. If it works okay, delete the .db from the desktop.

If the Dock is the same, return the .db to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.

Had the same problem. Turns out I didn't have enough desktops open. When one on each monitor, didn't have the option but as soon as I added a 3rd, option reappeared.

    Thank you naarus!

Didn't have time to try Eric Root's solution yet, but in the mean time, the option came back by magic... and I realize I had just added an extra desktop (a third "space", since I'm usually working with two.

Then this morning, the option had disappeared again, but I remember I had closed my third empty desktop. I went back and added an extra desktop in mission control (not related to my second display, just an extra "space", on the "right", after the two "spaces" I already had.) and the option "Desktop on Display 2" came back!

Don't know why, but it works!
