Q: I can't get into ipod touch sync settings

I recently acquired and Ipod touch 5g from a family memeber and their are a few songs on it I won't get off of it and put it onto my PC (windows vista) before I restore this ipod. I can hook up the Ipod just fine and Itunes will recognize it but when I click the icon to get to the sync page i get this message that say "itunes has stopped working" and then Itunes shuts down. I have another Ipod nano(5g) which is my main source and it hooks up and syncs just fine, no problem. Whats the problem with the Ipod touch.
