Q: How can I transfer video footage from my iPhone 5 to my iPad mini 2 so as to edit video in iMovie

Hello to all! The title itself is self explanatory! Can I, if so, how?

Thanks in advance!

Get the Lightning USB Camera Adapter:

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD821ZM/A/lightning-to-usb-camera-adapter?fnod e=3a

and attach your iPhone to your iPad Mini as a Camera.

or use an App which can transfer the video via WiFi like Photo Transfer:

    or investigate Apple's AirDrop facility:

Thanks for the detailed reply! I had, before posting this thread, tried Airdrop route but failed. The reason for this was that though I had chosen to share from the iPhone via Airdrop, I had gone into the control centre [not a swipe from the bottom, but from the pane in the settings window, where I could not find any Airdrop option]. After reading your reply, I tried the swiping from below access to the control centre and from there I could select Airdrop [with everyone]. This done, the transfer was a breeze!

    Hello again Jim!

Am facing this hurdle: transfer of files between iPhone and iPad is erratic...sometimes transfer takes place successfully, at other times, the transfers fail when I am using Airdrop facility. Is there any extra things one has to do to get over this unpredictable performances?

Thanks Jim for your sustained help. I am facing a different problem when I am trying to purchase this App which is priced at 190 INR. In the recent past I did not encounter any hurdles in purchasing Apps to my iPhone, but for this transaction I have been subjected a security check. I had been asked two questions to which, to the best of my memory, and that which is indeed the truth, I gave my answers. My answers were interpreted to be erroneous upon my first two attempts. After that, when I received a notice that a third wrong attempt would result in my Apple account being blocked, I have stopped going in for a third attempt.

    What should I do now?

    Please help me Jim.

    Regards and take care.

Read this about how to change the security questions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312

If you can't use these procedures because you don't have a rescue email address you will have to contact Apple. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699

You can also call your country number from http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and ask to speak with Account Security.

You can also go to the ExpressLane at https://expresslane.apple.com and then iTunes > iTunes Store > Password and Security Questions and fill out the form.

Thanks again. Went to the express lane and filled up the form...have been asked to wait for two days before changing the settings.

In the meanwhile, the 'good news' is this: I have been able to transfer files from my iPhone to the iPad via airdrop! I guess the reason for being unable to have a smooth transfer earlier could be this: earlier I was carrying out the operation in a neighbouring room and not in the room where the wifi router is located. Only the photos could be transferred and not the videos. When I have tried out the transfer in the room where I have the router, the process took place without any hassles.

Could this be the reason for the problem faced earlier?

    Regards and take care.

Hello Him! Good morning! Have been able to change the security questions which have now been replaced by a proven and verified device to which a verification number would be smsed.

Have downloaded the Photo Transfer app for my Mac and have installed it on my iPhone too. The free version of this app allows for transfer of only he first 50 photos/videos. I was asked to agree for the app to access my photo gallery/computer and have allowed it to. Is that safe?

    Regards and take care.

Yes, that's safe. The App needs that access to do the file transfers.
