How do I fix my download problem?

I am running Tiger 10.4.11 on my ibook g4. I am new to Mac in every way. I downloaded a lot of stuff fine on the first day I got this computer. I downloaded Tenfour Fox and it was way to slow. The morning after that, I got onto the computer and Tenfour Fox was working very fast and I could also watch you tube videos. When I tried to download something I kept receiving this message. The following disk images failed to mount, error 0xe00002c9. I tried to download other stuff, but same message. I even tried to open camino which I had dowloaded the night before and got the same message. I did the thing with the permissions but it did not help. What do I do?

First things first google that error code, if you can't find anything useful doing that, I could possibly help you

I looked it up and found a possible solution. Install security update 2007-009. I can not do that because it keeps giving me the same error. I can save it on my usb stick and then install it from there but I do not know how to do so. When I insert my usb in and pull it up, and click on the update, same thing happens. Is there another way to install it from there, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Could be there is a problem with the hard disk drive, as when these

start to fail, there could be read-write issues; due to damage or wear

of the drive, leading to data loss and failure.

Is the hard disk drive capacity near full? What is the proportion of used

verses unused capacity of the hard disk drive? This may have a bearing.

If you have the correct install-restore DVDs for the system, you may be

able to boot from them, and use the Installer's version of Disk Utility to

see about checking or repairing the hard disk drive. Be careful since the

tools there can also totally erase, reformat and do other things to a HDD.

The same install-restore DVD for Tiger (or any supported system) can

also be used to set-up and prepare a replacement hard disk drive for

a fully new installation of a supported OS X. Only the original disc set

would have the complete system; that would be non-retail gray label

of specific part numbers intended to accompany iBookG4, when new.

By 'complete' reference includes all original as-shipped applications.

Which model iBook G4 do you have? Processor series, display size,

and other specifications can help determine what else may be done.
