Can't find Apple TV on my MacBook on the same Wifi.

I use public Wifi in my apartment which requires registration to use it.

My macbook and apple TV is registered to the system separately and they work well.

I can do web-surfing with my laptop and watch youtube with my apple TV.

However, my laptop can't find apple TV so I can't use airplay. Several months ago, I could see apple TV on my laptop so I used airplay but it suddenly dissappeared.

I suspect this is due to different IP address. The first two part of the IP is the same 169.231.xx.xxx but apple TV has a different IP in the last two part from my laptop.

Please help!

Apple TV (2nd generation)

Didn't iOS 8 resolve this issue?

"With the new operating system you are now able to communicate between your mobile device and an Apple TV without Wi-Fi using AirPlay. This means for those of you who are having trouble getting Wi-Fi in your gym/teaching space, you won’t need it anymore."
