Can't find Apple TV on my MacBook on the same Wifi.

I use public Wifi in my apartment which requires registration to use it.

My macbook and apple TV is registered to the system separately and they work well.

I can do web-surfing with my laptop and watch youtube with my apple TV.

However, my laptop can't find apple TV so I can't use airplay. Several months ago, I could see apple TV on my laptop so I used airplay but it suddenly dissappeared.

I suspect this is due to different IP address. The first two part of the IP is the same 169.231.xx.xxx but apple TV has a different IP in the last two part from my laptop.

Please help!

could be the required ports are blocked on the wifi network

these are the required ports

TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products - Apple Support

How do I un-block them then?

It seems like many of my neighbors are using Apple TV without a problem as I see many other Airplay displays on the display preference.

it's done in the configuration of ones router and maybe in the firewall of the computer

Didn't iOS 8 resolve this issue?
