family sharing...allow streaming content?

Is there a way to allow another family member in family sharing to stream a purchased tv episode or movie that I buy? Currently, they are only seeing the ability to watch it after downloading the file.

Hey ladyk16,

I am not quite certain what it is you are asking here. Are you trying to allow a family member to stream content such as movies or TV shows from your computer rather than having to download them from the iTunes Store using Family Sharing?

If that is what you are trying to do, streaming is not part of Family Sharing. It is, however, available as a part of Home Sharing, another feature of iTunes. See this article -

Home sharing is no solution because you can't share other family member's purchases through home sharing. They do not show up as streamable options. It's a travesty that Apple sells 16GB iOS devices (5+GB taken up by OS and base apps), charges 2-5x for additional flash storage, won't allow flash upgrades and then won't allow streaming family share purchases.

Super frustrating.
