I think it is a design problem Macbook 2 power adaptor. The cord repeatedly bends in the same place causing it to short. Is there a recall, or any assistance from Apple on replacing these

there should be a 1 year on accessories too. there isn't any recall, as you seem of the rare people having problems with the power adapter. Make sure you plug and unplug your Magsafe adapter properly: Mac notebooks: Using and maintaining your Apple MagSafe Adapter - Apple Support

So you had two MagSafe 2 power adapters fail like in the recall picture? If your failure lies under the recall protocol you should be reimbursed for both power adapters.
