adding mp3 files to my ipod nano

Hello! Is there a way to copy mp3 files from my computer to my ipod nano? I have just purchased a book on learning Chinese that came with an audio cd of mp3 files. After spending a few hours with itunes, playlists, audiobooks, and the nano user guide, there does not seem to be an easy or straight-forward method on putting these files on my nano. The user guide is pretty useless in this regard. Was it a mistake to get a nano to play normal mp3 files? Do I have to somehow burn the book cd into itunes and then sync? I created a playlist of the files in my local itunes, but it does not want to sync with the nano. Any suggestions? Thanks!

To transfer audio files to a Nano, you need to use iTunes to sync the files over, you cannot simply drag them over. But first you need to import the files to iTunes.

Have you imported the files to iTunes?

This is the latest model, version 7 I believe. Model number = A1446. There was no user manual with this nano other than a foldout that said to visit the website. I have read the pdf manual on the website. It says very little about using mp3 files from sources other than itunes. I was assuming I would just create a folder on my nano, copy mp3 files from my computer to my nano and the nano would recognize the new files and the new folder would be treated as a playlist. Obviously this is not how the nano works. Any suggestions?
