Q: problems with iMac seeing wireless printer

Since upgrading to Yosemite I am having problems with my Mac seeing my HP 5520 wireless printer. Every time I switch on my Mac, I have to reset the network settings on the printer - even though the printer tells me that it is connected to the network.

I have tried all the suggestion - deleting the printers, downloading and reloading the drivers, checking the Mac Wi-Fi is switched on etc., everything works... until the next day.

Anyone had the same problem? how was it solved (if at all)?

I don't have that printer, but I "think" I solved this same issue -
On your router, set up a permanent "reserved" IP address for both printer and Mac. At least, that's available on my Netgear router.

Looks like you were on the right track... I checked with my HP printer on-line help and they suggested setting a fixed IP address for the printer. This was done through the printer set-up facility. Now the printer is working just as it used to...
